Over de destijds zeer geavanceerde Porsche 928 is veel te vertellen. Wat veel mensen niet weten is dat de 928 de legendarische 911-serie moest opvolgen. Dit is (gelukkig) geen werkelijkheid geworden. Hoewel de 928 een relatief succesvol model was, bleef de traditionele 911 ook een gewild model en bleef deze in productie. De 928 werd geproduceerd vanaf 1978. Het door ons aangeboden exemplaar is een vroeg 78' model en werd nieuw geleverd door Pon Nederland op 25 januari 1979.

Alle carrosseriedelen sluiten goed op elkaar aan, de auto is roestvrij en het lakwerk is goed. Ook het interieur is in bijzonder fraaie staat, zonder scheuren in het dashboard. De motorruimte is droog en de auto rijdt, schakelt en remt goed. De meeste 928's zijn voorzien van een automatische transmissie maar dit exemplaar is uitgerust met de begeerde en snellere handgeschakelde ''Dogleg'' transmissie. Porsche adverteerde destijds met de zin "van 0 naar 100 km/u en terug naar 0 in slechts 10 sec" om aan te geven dat zowel acceleratie- als remvermogen bovengemiddeld waren. Ook beschreef Porsche de 928 als drie auto's in één: een sportauto met goede prestaties, een comfortabele, luxe coupé en een doelmatig, praktisch voertuig geschikt voor lange afstanden en bijna geen onderhoud. Deze woorden zijn niets teveel gezegd: naast uitstekende rijeigenschappen is de auto rijk uitgerust met onder meer 4 stoelen, airco, cruise control en elektrisch bedienbare ramen en spiegels. Bij de auto zijn onder meer een verkoopbrochure, technische specificatie, kleurkaart en prijslijst met destijds leverbare opties aanwezig. Dit exemplaar in de fraaie blauwe metallic kleur met een hint groen is bijzonder goed bewaard gebleven en een aanvulling voor iedere verzameling. De laatste jaren heeft de auto in een verzameling gestaan en daardoor weinig gereden, hierdoor is technisch nakijken aan te raden.


Algemene informatie over de Porsche 928
De Porsche 928 werd in 1977 geïntroduceerd als een luxe 2+2 GT-auto. Vanwege steeds strengere veiligheidseisen moest hij de populaire 911 opvolgen. Het was de eerste Porsche met een V8-motor en de eerste Porsche leverbaar met een automatische transmissie. Het ontwerp was revolutionair en dankzij de krachtige, watergekoelde 4,5 -liter V8 motor met 240 pk heeft de auto heeft een acceleratie van 0 naar 100 km/u in 6,6 seconden en een topsnelheid van 230 km/u. De focus lag op een lichtgewichtconstructie: de motor is daarom gebouwd van aluminium, evenals verschillende carrosseriedelen en de bumpers zijn van kunststof. Verder is alles elektrisch of pneumatisch. Dat het een technisch complex voertuig is blijkt uit de meer dan 1000 stekkerverbindingen en 3 kilometer elektrische bekabeling die in de auto aanwezig zijn. In 1978 won de 928 de titel van "Auto van het Jaar". De Porsche 928 is de enige sportwagen die deze titel ooit heeft gekregen! De verkoopcijfers waren dan ook goed. In 1995 werd de productie stopgezet en de 928 werd opgevolgd door de Porsche 968. De 928 wordt nu beschouwd als een echte klassieker en heeft een groep loyale fans met in Nederland zelfs een Porsche 928 Club.

Much can be said about the then highly advanced Porsche 928. What many people don't know is that the 928 was supposed to succeed the legendary 911 series. This (thankfully) did not become a reality. Although the 928 was a relatively successful model, the traditional 911 also remained a sought-after model and remained in production. The 928 was produced from 1978 onwards. The example we are offering is an early 78' model and was delivered new by Pon Netherlands on 25 January 1979.

All body parts fit together well, the car is rust free and the paintwork is good. The interior is also in particularly nice condition, with no cracks in the dashboard. The engine compartment is dry and the car drives, shifts and brakes well. Most 928s come with an automatic transmission but this one is equipped with the coveted and faster manual ‘’Dogleg‘’ transmission. At the time, Porsche advertised the phrase ‘from 0 to 100 km/h and back to 0 in just 10 sec’ to indicate that both acceleration and braking power were above average. Porsche also described the 928 as three cars in one: a sports car with good performance, a comfortable, luxurious coupé and a purposeful, practical vehicle suitable for long distances and almost no maintenance. These words are nothing too much to say: in addition to excellent handling, the car is richly equipped with four seats, air conditioning, cruise control and electric windows and mirrors, among others. Included with the car are a sales brochure, technical specification, colour chart and price list with options available at the time. This example in the beautiful blue metallic colour with a hint of green is particularly well preserved and an addition to any collection. In recent years, the car has been in a collection and has therefore not been driven much, so a technical check-up is recommended.


General information about the Porsche 928
The Porsche 928 was introduced in 1977 as a luxury 2+2 GT car. Due to increasingly stringent safety requirements, it had to succeed the popular 911. It was the first Porsche with a V8 engine and the first Porsche available with an automatic transmission. The design was revolutionary and thanks to the powerful, water-cooled 4.5 -litre V8 engine with 240 hp, the car had an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds and a top speed of 230 km/h. The focus was on lightweight construction: the engine is therefore built of aluminium, as are several body parts and the bumpers are plastic. Otherwise, everything is electric or pneumatic. That it is a technically complex vehicle is evident from the more than 1,000 plug connections and 3 kilometres of electrical wiring present in the car. In 1978, the 928 won the title of ‘Car of the Year’. The Porsche 928 is the only sports car ever to win this title! Consequently, sales figures were good. In 1995, production ceased and the 928 was succeeded by the Porsche 968. The 928 is now considered a true classic and has a group of loyal fans with even a Porsche 928 Club in the Netherlands.
