Beschrijving
Afmeting knipsel in zwart papier 24 x 16 cm. Zwart houten lijst 34 x 26 cm. In zeer goede staat en origineel ingelijst achter glas.
Friedrich Kaskeline (1865-1931) was born in Prague, Bohemia in 1865- lived in Germany and created many German post cards as well as silhouettes mainly in the 1920's. His work is difficult to find and signed pieces are sought after . The cut work is very intricate and expertly created.
Scherenschnitte , which means "scissor cuts" in German, is the art of paper cutting design. The art work often has symmetry within the design, and common forms include silhouettes, valentines, and love letters. The art tradition was founded in Switzerland and Germany in the 16th century, and was brought to Colonial America in the 18th century by immigrants who settled primarily in Pennsylvania.
