*"Taikoki" is the title used for the biography of Toyotomi Hideyoshi.

*Okada Gyokuzan (1737 - 1808 or 1812?) was an ukiyo-e artist from Osaka in the mid to late Edo period.
Later, during the Bunka era, he excelled in sketches for woodblock prints, and created many illustrations, including Ehon Taikoki (7 volumes, 84 books) published in 1797 (Kansei 9) and Todo Meisho Zue (Tdo Meisho Zue) published in 1802 (Kywa 2). However, Ehon Taikoki violated the shogunate's taboo, and was ordered to be taken out of print in May 1804 (Bunka 1). Incidentally, Kitagawa Utamaro, who was influenced by Ehon Taikoki by Gyokuzan and created a nishiki-e print based on Taikoki, was also reprimanded for this, sentenced to three days in prison and then to handcuffs. Gyokushan's illustrations are characterized by their detailed depictions that fill the entire picture plane, and their dynamic depictions. From the commonality of the designs, it is assumed that Gyokushan learned from Chinese woodblock prints and Western copperplate prints, but it is unclear where he obtained these prints, which were difficult to obtain at the time. Later artists such as Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Kuniyoshi learned from Gyokushan's illustrations in woodblock prints, and incorporated their detailed depictions and movements into their own works.
